Extended Health Insurance Plans MTA

While most people primarily have coverage through third party insurers, maintaining a relationship with public insurers is also important as it give credibility and an endorsement of our profession to the third party insurers (Blue Cross, Manulife, Great West Life, etc).

Even though most plans say you do not need a Doctor’s Referral for Registered Massage Therapy, it is a good idea to check with your insurer.

Medically Necessary Services & Massage Therapy

Medically necessary massage therapy service is defined as one that a patient needs in order to avoid a negative health consequence.

“Medically Necessary” or “Medical Necessity” shall mean health care services that a therapist, exercising prudent clinical judgment, would provide to a patient for the purpose of evaluating or treating an illness, injury, dysfunction, disease and/or its symptoms.

Receipts for treatments will be issued and can be used for reimbursement from many extended health plans.
